Kamloops-area snowpack rises slightly closer to normal: BC River Forecast Centre
VICTORIA — Snowpack conditions in Kamloops and area have moderately improved since the start of 2024 but they are still below normal for this time of year.
According to numbers from Feb. 1 from the B.C. River Forecast Centre’s (BCRFC) Snow Survey and Water Supply Bulletin released Thursday (Feb. 8), the provincial snowpack remains very low, averaging 61 per cent of snow for this time of year.
The North Thompson and South Thompson basins are at 73 per cent and 81 per cent normal snowpack respectively, up from 60 and 73. The Middle Fraser and Lower Fraser are both extremely low, sitting at 59 per cent and 47 per cent respectively.
