KAMLOOPS — Tourism Kamloops will be asking Kamloops city council for a letter of support of completing a feasibility study for what they hope will become an ‘iconic structure’ in the area.

Tourism Kamloops is looking to apply for a grant to fund the study.

“This grant is pivotal in facilitating a comprehensive feasibility study within Kamloops, aimed at evaluating the viability of developing an iconic structure in and around Kamloops. Examples of nearby iconic structures include the Sea-to-Sky Gondola in Squamish, Malahat SkyWalk near Victoria or the Golden Skybridge in Golden,” reads a letter from Tourism Kamloops’ Lisa Strachan.

Tourism Kamloops is prepared to hold consultation with local stakeholders if successful.

“The acquisition of an iconic structure in Kamloops stands to enhance the city’s competitiveness in comparison to emerging attractions in areas like Vernon and Revelstoke,” continued Strachan.

The grant application needs to be completed before March 12.

“The feasibility study would consider existing plans, community consultation, and ongoing operational requirements of whatever proposal potentially emerges,” stated Strachan.

Council will receive the letter from Tourism Kamloops on Tuesday at the regular meeting.
