KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers won their fourth straight game by taking down the Wenatchee Wild Friday (Dec. 2) night 4-1.

The Blazers opened the scoring with a late power play goal. Ashton Ferster put back a puck trickling in the blue paint after a slapshot by Jordan Keller found a way through goaltender Daniel Hauser. Emmitt Finnie then extended the lead to 2-0 after cutting in and scoring from a sharp angle.

The Wild cut the deficit to 2-1 early in the second but the Blazers would escape the middle frame with a two-goal lead again. Keller pounced on a rebound off the side of the net and banked it off Hauser and in.

Logan Bairos added an empty net goal and goaltender Dylan Ernst held fort with 37 saves en route to the 4-1 win.

The Blazers improve to 14-28-3-2 on the 2023-24 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, good for 33 points in 47 games. However, they’re still at the bottom of the overall WHL standings. They trail the Spokane Chiefs by seven points for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot having played two more games.

The Blazers hit the road to take on the Prince George Cougars Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Blazers’ next home game is Wednesday, Feb. 7 against the Seattle Thunderbirds. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
