Highway 1 through Fraser Canyon remains closed due to flooding

KAMLOOPS — The Trans Canada Highway through the Fraser Canyon remained closed overnight.

DriveBC first reported shortly after noon Monday (Jan. 29) the stretch of Highway 1 between Lytton and Spences Bridge was closed in both directions due to flooding and debris on the road.

A detour for travellers between Kamloops and B.C.’s south coast is available via Highway 5. Highway 8 is open to local traffic only.

DriveBC says a geotechnical investigation is underway. Another update is due at 8 a.m.
