Wanted man arrested after standoff at Barriere-area home

BARRIERE, B.C. — RCMP have arrested a wanted man after a brief standoff at a home near East Barriere Lake.
In a news release, Southeast District (SED) RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy says the 58-year-old man was the subject of several outstanding warrants for assault.
Barriere RCMP traced him to a home on Creekside Road, calling in the SED Emergency Response Team (SED ERT) for help due to the risk the man posed.
Attempts to convince the man to leave the home on his own proved less than fruitful, but Grandy says the “SED ERT utilized various tactics” to take him into custody.
