KAMLOOPS — For the first time since a devastating car crash tragically took the life of Owyn McInnis and resulted in life-altering injuries to Owen Waterhouse and Riley Brinnen, the Thompson Rivers (TRU) WolfPack will play on their home court this weekend.

The WolfPack (5-7) will host the MacEwan Griffins (0-14) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 12) and 4:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Tournament Capital Centre. The games will be emotional ones for an extremely resilient WolfPack team that helped honour McInnis at a celebration of life on Wednesday.

TRU put together an amazing effort in their return to play last weekend. The ‘Pack split a weekend with the Winnipeg Wesmen, capturing a 3-1 victory Friday before falling 3-1 on Saturday.

Matthew Hamilton was named the WolfPack, Canada West and U SPORTS Athlete of the Week for his impressive performance on Friday that saw him rack up career-highs in kills, digs and blocks before ending the game with two-straight service aces.

Before the men hit the floor the women will be battling a solid Griffins team at 5:30 on Friday and 3:00 on Saturday.

TRU started the second half of their season strongly last weekend, earning a split on the road in Winnipeg. The ‘Pack picked up a 3-1 win on Friday before falling 3-1 on Saturday in a pair of close games with a Winnipeg team that is in a playoff spot.

Setter Libby Meldrum was named the WolfPack Athlete of the Week after starring in Winnipeg with 106 assists between the two games.
