The Merritt RCMP detachment may have your lost money

MERRITT, B.C. — “Where did all of my money go?”

Many of us ask ourselves that question in the days and weeks that follow the holidays.

But Merritt RCMP say someone has an even better reason to ask that question this year.

In a news release, Sgt. Brock Hedrick says a Good Samaritan showed up at the detachment on Dec. 29 and turned in a quantity of funds. The individual had found the money while hiking in the area.

Police would like to reunite the money with its rightful owner.

Hedrick says the detachment is not releasing the amount of money or the location where it was found — the owner will have to provide that information in order to get it back.
