Vehicle incident impacts traffic on Highway 1 through Fraser Canyon

UPDATE (9:30 a.m.): DriveBC says the stretch of Highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon is open to single-lane-alternating traffic. Drivers are being asked to watch for traffic control.

Another update is due at 11 a.m.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — The Trans Canada Highway through the Fraser Canyon remains closed in both directions Tuesday (Jan. 9) morning.

DriveBC first reported of a vehicle incident on Highway 1 near Hells Gate between Boston Bar and Spuzzum at around 10:15 p.m. Monday, and an assessment is still in progress.

Another update is due at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Meantime, a winter storm warning remains in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt. Environment Canada is asking drivers to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Elsewhere, a snowfall warning for the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna was called off at around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
