Blazers hold on to beat Rockets 3-2 in return to Sandman Centre ice

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers came out of the holiday break the same way they went in, with two points and a win.

In the first half of a home and home set with their Interior Rival, the Blazers held on for a 3-2 win over Kelowna on home ice Wednesday (Dec 27).

Andrew Thomson would kick-start the offense for Kamloops with the only marker of the opening stanza.

The Blazers would add two more in the second curtesy of Jordan Keller on the powerplay less than a minute in, and then Dylan Sydor’s 16th of the year to make it 3-0.

The Rockets however would not go quietly, and made things interesting down the stretch with goals from Hiroki Gojsic and Gabriel Szturc but fell short 3-2.

Dylan Ernst earned the win in the blue paint for Kamloops stopping 30 of 32 pucks directed his way.

The return leg of the home and home series goes Friday in Kelowna.
