Kamloops’ Johnny Hicks returns golden from World Junior A Challenge

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops is home to another gold medalist thanks to goalie Johnny Hicks and Team Canada West at the 2023 World Junior A Challenge.
The Kamloops local served as the backup on the team that toped Canada East 7-2 in the final of the tournament held in Truro Nova Scotia last week.
Hicks spent two season with the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials, and despite playing behind a struggling team that won only three games in 2021, managed to put up good numbers in the cage. In a slightly better second year in Merritt, Hicks posted a .917 SV% for a team that missed the playoffs.
Hicks is now with the powerhouse Brooks Bandits of the AJHL. This season Hicks in 19-3, with a 1.88 GAA and a .912 SV%.
