KAMLOOPS – The B-100 Toy House campaign has come to an end and just like Santa’s elves, B-100 and CIFM radio personalities were busy, delivering unwrapped toys to Christmas Amalgamated.

“I think we did fairly good, probably even better than last year,” said B-100’s Kayla Derkach. “I just feel like the holiday spirit has been in full swing this year and we are so, so grateful for it.”

The toy house at Aberdeen Mall has been filled multiple times since the toy campaign began a month ago.

The Aberdeen toy house is one of seven around the city that has been filled with unwrapped toys for Christmas Amalgamated.

“We thought, with all the different toy campaigns that have been happening, that it might not be as much as usual,” said Sally Whitson from Christmas Amalgamated. “But, boy, people are so generous and the toys are just beautiful.”

According to Whitson, the Toy House campaign is essential to keeping Christmas Amalgamated operating year after year.

“Anything that we don’t use this year, we put away as our start base for next year,” Whitson said. “Because when we start, when we open up in the beginning, we give out in a way, a lot of toys before we even see any more donations.”

In addition to the toys, Aberdeen Mall also partnered with a special vending machine with the initiative, Cotton Candy for a Christmas Cause, and raised $450 for Christmas Amalgamated.

“I have a good feeling that a lot of families who are part of the Christmas Amalgamated program, they are going to be smiling from ear to ear Christmas Day just because this community once again stepped up when it was needed most,” Derkach said.
