KAMLOOPS — Workers at the Sephora cosmetics store in Kamloops will hold a strike vote next week.

In a news release issued Wednesday (Dec. 13) morning, UFCW 1518, the union that represents the workers at Sephora in Aberdeen Mall, says the vote will take place on Dec. 21 and 22. The Kamloops location is the only unionized Sephora in North America.

The union says Sephora workers have been in contract negotiations with the company for more than a year. Sticking points include substantial wage increases and other workplace improvements such as better flexibility in scheduling, health benefits and store benefits.

“It’s the workers who help make this company profitable by creating a top-notch customer experience at Sephora all year round, and even more through the holidays,” said Kim Novak, UFCW 1518 president. “We want to see their hard work recognized by Sephora and that comes in the form of better wages and improved working conditions… After a year of negotiations, our members are ready to fight for a deal that meets these very reasonable expectations.”
