Blazers drop fifth straight; third on Prairie road swing in 3-1 loss to Raiders

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers dropped their third straight game on their Prairie road trip, and fifth straight overall, in a 3-1 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders Tuesday (Dec. 12) night.

The Blazers surrendered the first goal early in the first after a giveaway in their own zone although 16 saves from goaltender Dylan Ernst kept the game 1-0.

In a period where they outshot the Raiders 13-7, puck luck went against the Blazers again as a power play shot from the top left circle found its way through traffic and in to make it 2-0.

A strong individual effort from the Raiders’ Sloan Stanick made it a 3-0 game in the third and kept it out of the Blazers’ reach. Jordan Keller pounced on a rebound late in the third to put the Blazers on the board.

The Blazers fall to 7-19-3-2 on the 2023-24 Western Hockey League season, good for 19 points in 31 games. They remain at the bottom of the Western Conference.

The Blazers continue their Prairie road trip Wednesday night in Saskatoon when they take on the Blades. The Blazers’ next home game is against the Kelowna Rockets Wednesday, Dec. 27 from Sandman Centre.
