Don’t let delivery people photograph your identification: Williams Lake RCMP

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — RCMP in Williams Lake say a delivery person should not be taking a photo of your identification before handing you your package.

The warning comes after an increase in what Staff Sgt. Brad McKinnon terms “suspicious activity.”

In a news release issued Thursday (Dec. 7), McKinnon says while delivery people may ask to verify your identity before handing you your order, they should not be taking a photo of your identification.

McKinnon notes the detachment has not received any reports of identity theft related to this activity, but he wants to ensure people don’t fall victim.

“If you find yourself in a similar situation, where a parcel delivery service provider asks to take a picture of your personal identification, call the police for assistance,” said McKinnon.
