Kamloops RCMP respond to a fire, carjacking, gun seizure throughout the weekend

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 324 calls for service from Friday (Dec. 1) to Monday (Dec. 4); three incidents stood out.

North Shore dumpster fire

On Friday (Dec.1) at around 1:30 a.m., RCMP were called to assist Kamloops Fire and Rescue on the 900-block of Seventh Street where firefighters tended to the remnants of a dumpster fire that damaged a residence.

No suspects or witnesses were located.

No sign of break-in

Also on Friday, at around 1:55 p.m., RCMP were called to a residence on the 200-block of Larkspur Street for a break and enter, and harassment report. The caller was a male who had been arrested at approximately 2:40 a.m. that same day after calling and making false claims under the influence of drugs.

Upon entering the home for the second time, police noticed two long-guns on the couch and no signs of a break-in.

Stolen car left running

On Sunday (Dec. 3) at around 4:15 p.m., RCMP received a report of a stolen 2004 Infiniti G35X with the license plate TT9-59X, after it was left running and unattended outside of a store.

According to the investigation, a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban pulled up to the car and a passenger jumped out, entering and driving off with the vehicle.
