KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers dropped their second game in a row to the Victoria Royals Sunday (Dec. 3) afternoon, this time in a 6-3 loss from Sandman Centre.

The Blazers surrendered the first three goals of the game before Connor Levis got Kamloops on the board with a wrist shot between the hashmarks near the halfway point through the second period.

The attempted comeback was short-lived though as the Royals responded with two goals to close out the second period to take a 5-1 lead.

The Royals took their foot off the gas after making it a 6-1 game early in the third period, only putting three shots on net in the final 20 minutes. Although the Blazers added two goals late – a deflection by Levis and a howitzer of a slap shot from Kai Matthew for his first Western Hockey League (WHL) goal – en route to the 6-3 final.

The Blazers fall to 7-16-3-2 on the 2023-24 WHL season, good for 19 points in 28 games. They remain at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.

The Blazers begin a five-game Prairie road trip Friday (Dec. 8) against the Regina Pats. Their next home game is Friday, Dec. 27 against the Kelowna Rockets.
