Proposed Lansdowne multi-use path comes back to Kamloops council

KAMLOOPS — Fresh off a round of public consultation, City of Kamloops staff are recommending council move ahead with a multi-use pathway along Lansdowne Street.

The pathway is touted as the missing link in the city’s north-south active transportation corridor connecting the downtown with the North Shore.

The $2.75-million project came to council earlier this fall, with staff recommending it be added to the city’s Transportation Master Plan.

However, the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association voiced concerns about inadequate consultation.

Having now conducted a survey and an open house on the project, staff are recommending council move ahead.

If council decides to move forward at next Tuesday’s (Dec. 5) regular meeting, it is also expected to give staff the go-ahead to apply for grant funding to complete the project.
