RCMP seize drugs, cash from vehicle in North Shore traffic stop

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP officers seized about 1.6 kilograms of suspected illegal drugs from a North Shore traffic stop last weekend.

In a news release issued Thursday (Nov. 30), detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says a member of the detachment’s Crime Reduction Unit was looking into a suspicious vehicle on the East Trans Canada Highway last Saturday (Nov. 25).

Later, officers tracked the black Mitsubishi down on Eighth Street and Fortune Drive. Evelyn says the driver was committing traffic offences at that spot.

“While conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, the officer became aware that the driver was wanted on an endorsed warrant and arrested him,” said Evelyn. “A search of the vehicle that followed located a large amount of cash, drugs, and a conductive energy device.”

The vehicle was towed and the driver was released at the scene while officers continue their investigation.
