KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers split their two-game road trip on Vancouver Island.

After a 6-1 blowout loss the night prior, the Blazers returned serve and defeated the Victoria Royals 3-2 Wednesday (Nov. 29) night.

Both squads traded goals in the last minute of the first period. The Royals opened the scoring, but the Blazers responded with Ashton Ferster putting back a rebound with 10 seconds remaining.

After a scoreless second period, the Royals retook the lead halfway through the third. Although it was the Blazers’ turn to play the role of comeback kids.

Conner Radke scored his second goal in as many games as he put the puck in off a Royals skate to the tie game before Ryan Michael’s wrist shot from the point went off a few bodies and in to secure the win.

The Blazers improve their record to 7-14-3-2 on the 2023-24 Western Hockey League season, good for 19 points in 26 games. Although they remain at the bottom of the Western Conference.
