KAMLOOPS — Royal Inland Hospital was locked down for a short time Wednesday morning as RCMP searched for a man involved in a brawl with a weapon.

At around 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning (Nov. 22), Kamloops RCMP received a report of two men fighting with a dog present on the 400-block of Royal Avenue. The initial call involved barking, screaming and an engine revving.

Before officers arrived, one of the males fled the scene in a white Jeep, while the other male was found on location having sustained minor injuries.

Police located the Jeep heading toward Overlanders Bridge and attempted a traffic stop, from which the suspect fled once again. The vehicle was later located in the Royal Inland Hospital parking lot, where a man with visible injuries and a woman were observed walking inside.

As a precaution, the hospital was locked down and the search began for the pair. The woman was located inside and the man was found just before 6:00 a.m. at Sixth Avenue and Columbia Street with serious injuries believed to have been caused by a sharp object.

The Jeep was seized and the man was apprehended and taken to hospital for treatment.

The case is still under investigation.
