Kamloops Airport Authority pursuing grant funding for needed rehabilitation projects
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops City Council as approved a letter of support for the Airport Authority in their mission of securing funding to complete needing rehabilitation work along the Apron II Taxilane at YKA.
The Authority is applying to the British Columbia Air Access Program for the work along the piece of critical infrastructure at the airport.
“This infrastructure supports not only medivac and wildfire operations at YKA but also serves expanding charter aircraft and air cargo operations at YKA, all of which are being negatively impacted by the limits this deteriorating infrastructure is imposing,” reads a letter from Airport Authority President Bill Sarai.
The letter goes on to note that the revenues that usually fund infrastructure upgrades have not fully rebounded from the pandemic, which grounded air travel to a halt in 2020.
