Donations accepted toward Kamloops Shoebox Project

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Shoebox Project is encouraging locals to donate online or with a shoebox to support women impacted by homelessness.

Running from November 1 to December 19 and coordinated locally by Abbott Wealth Management, the initiative consists of providing personally crafted gifts to marginalized women in the community during the holiday season.

The organization will collect shoeboxes valued at $50 dollars each, filled with essential items such as socks, mitts, hygiene and bath products, gift cards and more.

Those interested can also place monetary donations via the Shoebox Project Kamloops website.

Shoeboxes will be distributed to several organizations in Kamloops, such as the Elizabeth Fry Society of Kamloops, Emerald Centre, A Way Home Kamloops Youth Housing, Y Emergency Women’s Shelter and others.

Those interested can drop-off shoeboxes at the Abbott Wealth Management office Monday’s to Thursday’s between 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday’s between 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
