Third period gets away from Blazers in 7-3 loss to Winterhawks
KAMLOOPS — The third period got away from the Kamloops Blazers in their 7-3 loss to the Portland Winterhawks from Sandman Centre Wednesday (Nov. 8) night.
Things started well enough for the Blazers with a power play goal five minutes in. Connor Levis got his own rebound after receiving a pass from Fraser Minten to make 1-0. Although the Winterhawks responded with two power play goals of their own to exit the first period with a 2-1 lead.
The Winterhawks continued to pour it on with two goals midway through the second period to make it 4-1. But the Blazers responded with two quick goals late to cut the deficit to 4-3. Shea Van Olm fired the puck after getting away with a potential hooking penalty and Logan Bairos’ wrist shot found a way through three Winterhawks skaters and the goalie.
