100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — The Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation has announced a $1.2-million investment to manufacturing-company expansion projects across B.C.

In a news release issued Monday (Nov. 6), the ministry announced the funding to manufacturers in the communities of 150 Mile House, 100 Mile House, Mackenzie, Terrace and Vanderhoof.

OT Timber Frames Ltd. of 150 Mile House will receive up to $235,000 to scale up the production of prefabricated homes, as well as expanding into insulation products and additional CNC machines.

The investment will also help generate five new positions and maintain year-round employment for current staff.

New Wave Docks Ltd. of 100 Mile House will receive as much as $300,000 to double their manufacturing capacity and product diversity, as well as creating 15 more jobs.

The construction of a 14,000-square-foot building is also planned, which will house a new roto-oven and aluminium fabrication shop.

Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, Brenda Bailey, expressed the initiative will set the stage for local economies to flourish.

“The projects we’re supporting through the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund will create stability for workers and their families throughout the province by keeping good-paying jobs in the communities they call home,” said Bailey.

Funding will be conducted through the B.C. Manufacturing Jobs Fund (BCMJF), as part of a series of programs introduced to encourage the growth of value-added manufacturing in B.C.
