Tupac’s Murder Suspect Pleads Not Guilty
Duane Keith Davis, the 60-year-old man charged with Tupac Shakur’s murder, pleaded not guilty in a Las Vegas courtroom on Thursday to a charge of murder with use of a deadly weapon in a gang-related homicide. Davis, also known as Keffe D, is accused of being the mastermind behind the infamous September 7, 1996 shooting that killed Shakur. He said he was unable to find a lawyer, so the judge ordered a court-appointed attorney. Prosecutors said do not plan to seek the death penalty against Davis, who has been held without bail after he was arrested on September 29. Tupac’s murder has been the subject of a decades-long investigation that finally culminated last month with Davis’ indictment by a grand jury. Police say he’s the only suspect in the case who is still alive.
