Kamloops RCMP on the lookout for suspects who stole tow truck after vehicle was hooked up

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are trying to determine who stole a tow truck after it hooked up their vehicle at roadside.

In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the incident happened early Monday morning (Oct. 30) on Highway 5 west of the city.

A tow truck driver was helping two people with a flat tire on their black BMW. Evelyn says the flat tire appeared to be suspicious.

“As police arrived on scene and were talking with the tow truck driver outside of the vehicle, the two people from the BMW stole the tow truck and fled toward Merritt, with the BMW still attached,” said Evelyn.

Not long after, the BMW was recovered near Salmon Arm and the tow truck near Tappen. No suspects were located.
