KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a police presence at a Westsyde property Wednesday morning (Nov. 1) was prompted by a weapons raid on a home.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers were initially called to a home in the 500-block of Dairy Road on October 23. Along with Conservation Officers, Mounties responded to a complaint of a person shooting a wild animal within city limits.

RCMP obtained a search warrant for the possible possession of weapons and executed the warrant Wednesday morning.

“Due to the believed presence of firearms inside a residence, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment requested the support of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team to assist in a safe entry and execution of the search warrant,” said Evelyn.

One man was arrested for a gun offence. He was later released with a court date and conditions. Charges are anticipated.

Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2023-38253.
