Local Jeep community to light up Kamloops in honour of Shannon White

KAMLOOPS — It’s now been two years since Shannon White went missing, after the Kamloops woman didn’t show up at work on November 1, 2021. And two years later, the investigation into her suspicious disappearance still hasn’t been resolved.

Wednesday evening (Nov. 1), Shannon White’s friends will be hosting a rally in her honour. White was an avid member of the off-road Jeep community in the region, and the friends she made will be hosting another gathering in the hopes of bringing her home.

“To basically light up Kamloops,” explains organizer Angela Hulsman. “We’re hoping everybody has lights on their vehicles and signs and stuff. And we’re just going to cruise through Kamloops and remind people that we’re here, what we’re here for, and remind everybody that Shannon is still missing and we’re still looking for her.”

Hulsman says around 60 people are expected to join in the rally at Aberdeen Mall before driving around the city. It’s one of several events held in the last two years to keep people aware of White’s disappearance.

“It’s really cool to see how many people she’s influenced, how many people she’s touched in their lives,” says Hulsman. “Even just with the SRD K9’s, they’re always out there searching. And they’re never going to give up and it’s great to see.”

The RCMP investigation is still open and White’s family and friends strongly believe someone knows something about what happened to Shannon.

“Let her friends and family have that closure, in one way or another. And even if that means dropping a hint or giving that evidence without your name, that’s fine. We just need her home.”

For now, Hulsman says they hope putting energy into searching the region, and spreading awareness will one day bring answers.

“…without those answers you really can’t fully grieve. Everybody just carries on and does the best they can.”

Anyone with information about Shannon White’s disappearance is urged to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000.

Those wishing to join in the rally can go to the Aberdeen Mall parking lot at 6:30 p.m., with the convoy of vehicles heading out for a drive around Kamloops at 7:00 p.m. (Click here for more information.)
