KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers’ brief winning streak ended at two games thanks to a 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants in Langley Sunday (Oct. 29) night.

Despite trailing 1-0 after the first period, the Blazers responded with two goals early in the middle frame to take the lead. Dylan Sydor kept his hot stick going with his sixth goal in four with a one-timer between the hashmarks, then Emmitt Finnie cut his way to the front of the net and put the puck in.

The lead was short-lived though as the Giants’ Jaden Lipinski rifled a wrist shot glove side to tie the game 2-2. The Giants added one more goal late in the second period to take a 3-2 lead.

But just like trailing after the first period, the Blazers answered back again. Max Sullivan scored his first career Western Hockey League (WHL) goal by cutting through the middle and wristed the puck from the near left circle to make it 3-3.

Although it was the Giants’ night. Colton Roberts fired the puck from the far-right circle for the power play goal and the Giants hung on to the 4-3 lead.

The Blazers’ record is now 3-10-2-0 on the 2023-24 WHL season, good for eight points in 15 games. They remain at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.

Next up for the Blazers is a Friday (Nov. 3) night home game against the Red Deer Rebels. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. from Sandman Centre.
