RCMP provide tips to keep the spooky night safe

KAMLOOPS — With only a couple days left until Halloween, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment is reminding the community of a few safety tips to keep in mind on Tuesday (Oct. 31).

“A little planning can go a long way in helping to keep a fun night safe,” said Corporal Dana Napier of the Kamloops RCMP Crime Prevention Unit.

Tips for children include:

• Never trick-or-treat alone.
• Make sure you can be seen by wearing reflective, bright colour costumes.
• Only visit well-lit houses.
• Don’t go into the house for your treats; always wait outside.
• Cross the street at marked crosswalks and intersections.

• Remind children of which houses they can go to for safety if they get scared.
