KAMLOOPS — A pair of shelters for Kamloops residents experiencing homelessness will be ready for the winter season.

In a news release issued Thursday (Oct. 26) morning, the Mustard Seed says it, along with BC Housing, will run two winter shelters at the Yacht Club downtown and the Kamloops Alliance Church on the North Shore.

The 20-bed Yacht Club shelter will run 24 hours a day from Nov. 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, while the Kamloops Alliance Church will open as an extreme weather response shelter. The church will open 30 beds during nights when temperatures drop to minus 10 or below, or if there is more than five centimetres of snowfall with a temperature of minus 10.
