Blazers fall to Wild 5-2; winless streak extends to 10

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers’ first visit to Wenatchee, Washington was unsuccessful Tuesday (Oct. 24).

Taking on the team formerly known as the Winnipeg ICE, the Blazers extended their winless streak to 10 games after a 5-2 loss to the Wenatchee Wild.

Both teams exchanged power play goals in the first period, which included a Dylan Sydor shuffling the puck in from the far side, to make it a 1-1 game.

Shots were even at nine a piece in the second period, but it was the Wild who capitalized on their chances. They scored twice, including another power play goal, to take a 3-1 lead after two.

But just like when the Blazers needed an answer back in the first period, Sydor scored again – this time tipping a wrist shot from Ryan Michael – to make it a 3-2 game early in the third period.

Although the Wild would respond with a goal 17 seconds later en route to their 5-2 win.

The Blazers fall to 1-9-2-0 on the 2023-24 Western Hockey League season, good for four points in 12 games. They’re at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.

The Blazers return home for a Friday (Oct. 27) matchup with the Tri-City Americans. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. from Sandman Centre.
