Suspect arrested, charged in 2021 murder in 100 Mile House

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — Exactly two years after a murder in 100 Mile House, RCMP have arrested and charged a suspect.

On October 19, 2021, RCMP responded to the sound of gunshots in an industrial area of 100 Mile House. Upon arrival, police found a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim died of their injuries a short time later.

Last Thursday (Oct. 19), the B.C. Prosecution Service approved a charge of first degree murder against 100 Mile resident James Eugene Perkins.

A warrant was issued for Perkins’ arrest and he was taken into custody the next day.

“The North District RCMP Major Crime Unit, 100 Mile House RCMP and the Cariboo Crime Reduction Unit investigators, worked diligently in gathering all evidence and obtaining charge approval in this matter,” said B.C. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé in a news release.
