RCMP searching for witnesses in carjacking attempt in Valleyview

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are searching for witnesses and video related to an attempted carjacking in Valleyview Wednesday (Oct. 18) evening.

In a news release issued Thursday morning, police say they were called to the 1900-block of Curlew Drive at around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday where a courier driver reported that a man opened the door to his small, white delivery van and attempted to pull him out.

RCMP say the driver was able to fight off the suspect, who then fled on foot toward Oriole Drive.

The suspect is described as a white man standing 6’0” with skinny, large-framed glasses, a straight nose. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie.

“We are asking area residents who have security or dash cameras to please review their video footage between 6:45 and 7:00 p.m. to determine if it caught the incident or the suspect as he fled,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says.
