KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public’s help in finding hard-body armour that was stolen after during several vehicle break-ins this week.

In a news release, RCMP say they responded to a business on the 900-block of Notre Dame Drive at around 4:45 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 12). A marked police SUV from a neighbouring detachment had been significantly damaged. Further investigation revealed a hard-body armour vest was taken from the vehicle.

“The SUV was towed and secured for examination by our Forensic Identification Service Unit as part of the ongoing investigation. While police officers, including those from our General Investigations Support Team, continue to work on identifying a suspect, we are asking the public to please be on the lookout for the police issued body armour stolen from the vehicle,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says.

A few hours later, police say they received another report that several more vehicles had been damaged earlier at around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 11).
