KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers have trimmed their roster by one, releasing netminder Matthew Kieper and deciding to run, for now, with the duo of Dylan Ernst and rookie Jesse Sanche.
Kieper was acquired last year from Regina and appeared in 13 career games with Kamloops, with a sparkling 10-1-1 record. However, in his final start with the Blazers, Kieper allowed 7 goals in a 7-6 overtime loss to Wenatchee last weekend at the Sandman Centre.
In 68 games played in the WHL, Kieper holds a 3.73 GAA and .879 save percentage.
The 19-year-old is now free to pursue other opportunities through the WHL or other leagues.
