KAMLOOPS — Kamloops police are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred in a vehicle, which had already been set ablaze previously.

On Tuesday (Oct. 10) around 7:55 a.m., Kamloops RCMP officers responded to the 200 block of Victoria Street West, where Kamloops firefighters had extinguished a blaze in an SUV parked on commercial property.

“The cause and the motive behind the fire are still under investigation, but police are treating it as arson,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. “At this time, there is nothing to suggest it’s related to last year’s investigation, which remains unsolved.”

After the first fire, the property was identified as TRU Market Auto Sales, owned by Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson.
