Traffic on Hillside Drive expected to be impacted by paving this week

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops drivers and transit users can expect congestion and delays on Hillside Drive this week.

Starting Tuesday (Oct. 3) and lasting until Friday, the City of Kamloops says the paving of Hillside Drive between Hillside Way and McGill Road will take place daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

During the paving, traffic on Hillside Drive within the active work zone will be limited to one lane in each direction. The construction zone is 30 km/h 24 hours a day, and drivers are asked to obey all traffic control devices and crews.

Additionally, access to the Walmart Plaza, Home Depot and Cariboo Place will be impacted as paving machines move by.

The tentative schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday – southbound curb lane, starting at McGill Road and moving south to Hillside Way
• Wednesday – southbound middle lane, starting at McGill Road and moving south to Notre Dame Drive, followed by northbound curb lane, starting at Notre Dame Drive and moving north to McGill Road
• Thursday – northbound middle lane, starting at Notre Dame Drive and moving north to McGill Road, followed by southbound curb lane starting at Notre Dame Drive and moving south to Hillside Way
• Friday – middle lanes, starting at Notre Dame Drive moving south to Hillside Way

Drivers are asked to choose alternative routes during paving if possible.
