KAMLOOPS — Kamloops-area members of the B.C. Conservative Party are preparing for the next provincial election.

Over the weekend, the party formalized its riding associations for the redrawn Kamloops-North Thompson and Kamloops Centre ridings.

In a news release, the party says nearly four dozen members attended and selected the following executive members:

Kamloops Centre

  • President: Miguel Romero
  • Vice-President: Glenn Aalderink
  • Director-at-Large: Peter Mehrfert
  • Treasurer: Mae Romero

Kamloops-North Thompson

  • President: Richard Henderson
  • Vice-President: Alan Forseth
  • Director-at-Large (Barriere): Jeffery Dilley
  • Director-at-Large (Barriere): Roger Wood
  • Director-at-Large (Kamloops): Teresa MacIsaac
  • Director-at-Large (Kamloops): Tim Blackburn
  • Treasurer: Mae Romero

“We will be a strong contender in the next provincial election,” said Central Interior-Columbia Regional Director Corally Delwo in a news release. “Our riding associations will be out in the community, sharing and promoting the BC Conservatives, and letting people know they have a new option for government.”

The party says the Salmon Arm-Shuswap (October 12) and Fraser-Nicola (October 16) ridings will hold their inaugural meetings in the coming weeks.

The B.C. Conservatives recently became the fourth official party in the B.C. legislature, with Abbotsford South MLA Bruce Banman crossing the floor to join party leader John Rustad (Nechako Lakes).

The next provincial election is scheduled for October 19, 2024.
