Salmon Arm music festival organizers asking ticket holders to consider donating refunds back to the event
SALMON ARM — Salmon Arm’s ROOTSandBLUES festival is asking its supporters to consider donating ticket refunds back to the festival to help the event return next summer. The 2023 festival was cut short by wildfires. The Salmon Arm Folk Music Society (SAFMS), which oversees the event, says ticketholders can choose to waive all or a portion of their ticket refund to support next year’s event.
“This process of raising funds for the next year’s event has made the successful programming of ROOTSandBLUES possible,” said David Gonella, SAFMS executive director. “With the abrupt cancellation of the event this year, next year’s festival may be underfunded.”
Despite much of the event being cancelled, Gonella says the society still had to pay suppliers, contractors and artists. The financial strain is becoming evident as organizers prepare for 2024. Gonella says the festival relies heavily on revenue generated through the previous year’s festival.
“This festival is where our friends, family and community meet once a year to create everlasting memories,” said Gonella. “Despite this year’s festival being cut short, we will make every effort to present the 32nd annual ROOTSandBLUES in the way we have all come to know and love.”
