Campfires to be allowed throughout Kamloops Fire Centre on Thursday

KAMLOOPS — The campfire ban that has been in place in the Kamloops Fire Centre since early July is set to come off.

In a news release, the B.C. Wildfire Service says Category 1 fires will be permitted as of noon on Thursday (Sept. 28).

The province says cooler temperatures, higher humidity readings and good overnight recoveries mean it is once again safe to enjoy a campfire — as long as it is completely extinguished before it is left.

Fireworks, burn barrels and binary exploding targets remain prohibited, as well as larger Category 2 and 3 fires.
