Blue Jackets hire Kamloops’ Recchi as assistant coach

COLUMBUS, OH — The Columbus Blue Jackets are bringing adding some Kamloops content — and some Hall of Fame credentials — to their coaching staff.

On Monday, the NHL team announced it has hired Mark Recchi as an assistant coach to new head coach Pascal Vincent.

Recchi has previously served as an assistant for the Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Kamloops native ranks eighth on the NHL’s all-time games played list (1,652), 13th in points (1,522) and 15th in assists (956). He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2017.

Recchi is also a co-owner of the Kamloops Blazers.
