KAMLOOPS — The Association of Interior Realtors is donating $265,000 to wildfire relief efforts through The Salvation Army.

According to the Association of Interior Realtors president, Chelsea Mann, the money came from dues paid by the Association’s agents. She said it’s a way they found to give back to the community as it tries to help those affected by wildfires across the region.

“Although it doesn’t really scratch the surface of what people really need, we are really hoping this contribution can help the efforts and just show that we care about our communities. We live, work and play in them, and they just mean the world to us,” she explained.

The Salvation Army is hoping the money will help people with essential items.

“Somethings would be food vouchers, clothing vouchers, crisis grant,” said Ian Pollard, Divisional Director of Emergency Disaster Services with The Salvation Army. “We are trying to fill those unmet needs. We really want to be there to cover the things that are not available.”

Anyone who wants to help with wildfire relief efforts can donate to their local Salvation Army through the website.
