Multi-vehicle incident impacts Highway 1 traffic between Cache Creek and Savona

UPDATE (10 a.m.): One person was sent to hospital following the vehicle incident on Highway 1 west of Juniper Beach Provincial Park.

BC Emergency Health Services (EHS) confirmed they received the call for the incident at the 4500-block of the Trans Canada Highway at around 1:55 a.m. and responded with three ambulances.

EHS says they didn’t have information on how many vehicles were involved in the incident. EHS isn’t authorized to confirm any deaths from an accident scene.

DriveBC says the stretch of Highway 1 between Cache Creek and Savona is now open to single-lane-alternating traffic.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — The Trans Canada Highway is closed between Cache Creek and Savona Tuesday morning (Sept. 19).

DriveBC reported of a multi-vehicle incident west of Juniper Beach Provincial Park shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday that has closed both lanes of the stretch of Highway 1.

An assessment is in progress and a detour is not available. Drivers are asked to watch for traffic control.
