KAMLOOPS — RCMP are investigating a shooting on the Kamloops North Shore in the wee hours of Monday morning (Sept. 18).

In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers were called to the 700-block of Tranquille Road at about 2:40 a.m after gunshots hit an apartment building.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, this morning’s incident appears to have been targeted,” said Evelyn. “At this time, it’s unknown if it’s related to Saturday’s shooting in Aberdeen.”

On Saturday, shots were fired near a motel in the 1300-block of Hugh Allan Drive. The suspect vehicle was later found set ablaze in the 2000-block of Tremerton Drive.

“It’s very fortunate that no one was injured in either of this week’s occurrences, but the threat to the public associated with firearms offences is one that’s very real and can come with tragic consequences,” she added. “It’s extremely important for anyone who has information that could help further this investigation to reach out to police as soon as possible.”

Officers from the detachment’s General Investigations Support Team canvassed the area for tips. Anyone with further information or footage from dash cameras or security cameras is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP detachment at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2023-33922.
