Kamloops sees increase of materials and users in week two of organic waste collection
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops appears to be gaining momentum with its curbside organic waste collection program.
Marcia Dick, Kamloops’ solid waste reduction coordinator, tells CFJC Today the City collected just over 120 tons of organic material in week two of the program, an increase of 100 in week one.
Dick says the City is seeing more residents participate in the program. Although she has a message for anyone looking to upsize their current organics carts.
“Hold off on requests for any kind of size change. We are a little bit back logged right now so we’re not going to be rushing to get those requests done in the immediate future,” Dick says. “We will have a period of time where we’ll waive the upsize fee, but we want people to hold off before making any decisions. Just try.”
