Residents in Chase retirement community returning following lifting of evacuation alerts
CHASE, B.C. — Residents of Parkside Community in Chase are returning home after evacuation alerts due to the Bush Creek East wildfire were lifted.
In a news release issued Wednesday (Sept. 6) Interior Health says the 53 residents of the retirement home in Chase will gradually return as the health authority ensures appropriate staffing and resources are in place ahead of time.
Interior Health says families of Parkside Community residents will be notified directly as their loved ones are moved back. Anyone wishing to confirm their loved one’s current location can call 1-833-469-9800 Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Parkside Community residents were proactively relocated to neighbouring communities on Aug. 18 due to the local evacuation alerts. The Village of Chase lifted its evacuation alert on Sunday, Sept. 3.
