Smoky skies remain above Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada’s smoky skies bulletin remains in place Monday for the final day of the long weekend.
The national weather agency says smoky conditions are localized in the southern half of the province. Precipitation, if any, will likely only temporarily alleviate the smoke conditions.
According to the website FireSmoke.ca, wildfire smoke impacting the Kamloops airshed is being produced by a number of different wildfires in British Columbia as well as wildfires in Washington State.
Environment Canada’s bulletin says wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations. Those with lung disease or heart disease, older adults, children, pregnant people, and people who work outdoors are at higher risk of experiencing health effects caused by wildfire smoke.
