CSRD closes Whitehead Road, Boat Launch to help barge transfer of supplies to North Shuswap areas

KAMLOOPS — The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) has closed Whitehead Boat Launch and Whitehead Road for a portion of each day.
In a news release, the CSRD say the road and boat launch will be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accomodate the barge transfer of supplies to Anglemont and St. Ives, approximately 125 kilometers east of Kamloops.
The CSRD advises people they must have a reservation if they want to go across to Anglemont on the barge. People are asked to make a reservation at least 24 hours ahead prior to a departure time they wish to book.
The district states they are not able to accomodate vehicles with trailers. Those who wish to make a reservation should do so as soon as possible as most of the time slots for the long weekend are full.
