BC Hydro replaces over 130 power poles after damage caused by Bush Creek East wildfire.
VANCOUVER — More than 130 power poles damaged in the Bush Creek East wildfire have been replaced.
BC Hydro says there are more than 150 workers on the ground working to replace damaged equipment in an effort to restore customers in Shuswap area.
In a news release, the electrical services company says the Bush Creek East Wildfire caused significant electrical infrastructure damage; 27 kilometres of power lines, 430 poles and 66 pieces of other equipment needed replacement. BC Hydro explains that restoration becomes complicated due to challenging terrain, as replacing poles requires drilling and hammering into rock, which could slow down the work.
“Despite these challenges, BC Hydro expects to see power restored to many impacted customers over the next week. Power will be restored in segments as the rebuild work is completed.” the company said in a statement.
